BA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

PROGRAMME OVERVIEW

The Degree in Community Development equips and empower groups of people by providing them with the requisite skills to effect change in their own communities. Community developers must be knowledgeable in both how to work with individuals and how to affect communities' positions within the context of larger social institutions. 


Community Development Exchange defines Community Development as: “the process of developing active and sustainable communities based on social justice and mutual respect. It is about influencing power structures to remove the barriers that prevent people from participating in the issues that affect their lives.

2 year completion- for persons with a recognised diploma or associate degree in the discipline (60 credits)

 

4 Year full time or part time for all other candidates (120 credits)

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Candidates with 5 CSEC or GCSE subjects including English and Maths


Students with 3 or 4 CSEC/GCSE subjects can enter the programme through our Pre IUC programme.
