OFFERED THROUGH MNC
BA Community
Development
The
Degree in Community Development equips and empower groups of
people by providing them with
the requisite skills to effect change in their own communities.
Community developers must be
knowledgeable in both how to work with individuals and how to
affect communities' positions within the
context of larger social institutions. Community Development
Exchange defines Community Development
as: the process of developing active and sustainable communities
based on social justice and mutual
respect. It is about influencing power structures to remove
the barriers that prevent people from participating
in the issues that affect their lives (Wikipedia). Some core
modules are Skills for Context and Content
Analysis, Communication Skills, Counselling for Community Change
and Planning for Community Economic Enterprises.
BSc Nursing
The Degree
in Nursing is offered on a full time and part time basis. Full
time students will attend classes daily.
Part time students attend classes four times per week and during
the summer. All students must sit the
Nursing Council Examination and be successful in order to become
registered as a Nurse. The COMPLETION
BScN is offered over four semesters for Registered Nurses on
a part time basis. Students will find fulfillment in
dynamic courses including Introduction to Nutrition, Health
Promotion, Introduction to Management, Clinical
Nursing and Specialist Nursing.
BSc Business
Administration
The Degree
in Business Administration at all levels is aimed at providing
access to entry level management.
It offers service learning/internship programme aimed at preparing
managers who have the potential for fast
tracking in the industry. This programme engenders management
formation which indicates holistic training
and readiness for the world of work and creates critically aware,
self affirming team players. Courses include
Human Resource Management, Business Statistics, Communication
Skills, Risk Management and Financial
Accounting.
BSc Hospitality
Management
The programme
is aimed at providing gateway certification to entry level management.
It offers a service learning/
internship programme aimed at preparing practitioners and managers
who have the potential for fast tracking in
the industry. Persons with this level of training are prepared
to make their contribution to the hospitality sector
both locally and internationally. Courses include Management
of Business, Elements of marketing, Nutrition,
Sanitation and Hygiene, Hospitality Industry, Spanish and Caribbean
Business Environment.
BSc Programme
& Project Management
Many of
the persons who pursue this programme are already working in
the field of project development and
management. They however acknowledge the need to up-grade their
skills in the field. This upgrade has
caused many graduate to experience advancement in their careers
in community-based programmes,
research or work in government and non-government organizations.
Secondary graduates with interest in
engineering and similar career fields are encouraged to pursue
training in this area. Training in this area is
essential to the development and maintenance of success from
investments to ICT. Many Organizations are
now incorporating Programme and Project Management into normal
work. Courses include Social Development
of Caribbean Society, Business Statistics and Business and Financing.
